I hope you enjoyed your weekend! We had our first Thursday comprehension assignment for the year. The students did a nice job. I do expect proof to be highlighted or underlined in the passage and numbered. For the short answer questions, I need complete sentences and all parts of the question answered. I did go over this in class as well. I also shared I will take redo's, which are due back the following Monday. This week we continue with Theme, and Author's Craft in L.A. Math continues with decimals, Soc. St. is covering MN facts, and Sci. is covering planets. Teachers will be setting up conference times soon. Watch for your fall conference slip to go home in the Wed. envelope. With outside temps and inside temps all over the place, you may want to send in a sweatshirt to stay warm in the classroom and or outside. It's not cool to wear a jacket :) Have a great week!

Ok, I feel like the last couple weeks are just a blur!! I am ready for a regular week of learning, almost!! We have our FastBridge Reading assessment Monday and Math later in the week. Results will be shared in Oct. when we have conferences. This week our focus is Retell, Literary Elements, Central Idea, Theme, and Author's Craft in Lang. Arts. This is also our first week using the new curriculum! I will have a Language Arts newsletter on the back side of my regular newsletter, be sure to check both sides. Math is reviewing decimals. We are still working on hallway expectations, and appropriate talk time in the classroom. I have an enjoyable homeroom and can't wait to see what the year brings them!! Have a great week!!

This really helps me get a better picture of each child I get to work with. As you can see we have a busy week. Welcome Back!!! I am looking forward to seeing you at Open House!! We are going to start switching classes this week already for Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Writing/Sci/Soc. After FastBridge testing in a couple weeks, we will look at the scores and determine which students may need intervention: Irish Support, Math Corp, and/or Reading Corp. With three days of school this week, we will learn about each other, classroom expectations, and get a feel for the daily schedule. Our schedule is a little different this year than it has been in the past. I am sure the students will enjoy it! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please call or send an email. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have concerning anything here at MLE. I will always have a paper copy of my newsletter in your child's planner every Monday. I am excited for another school year at MLE!

Track-n-Field  Day

We are down to seven days of the school year. Unbelievable!!! I have had some questions concerning graduation next week. First, anyone in the family is invited to attend the ceremony June 3 at 1:45. Please make sure to check in at the elementary office before going up to the high school auditorium. Second, you are welcome to take your child home afterwards if you want. Be sure to get their things out of their locker before you go home!! The students will be going to the HS for lunch on Tuesday to get a practice run before school starts in the fall. This is always a fun experience!! I hope you had a great Memorial weekend!

Track and Field Day. Wear your tie-dye shirt

Families,

On Monday, we will get the shirts ready to tie-dye on Tuesday. Monday looks like rain, so we won't be able to hang them outside to dry. The shirts will be sent home on Tuesday. Please wash them in cold water and have them ready for Friday!! We have Hat Day on Tuesday; we are collecting money to help out a school family. The kids have been working on a novel study the last couple weeks. We are getting close to wrapping that up. We will have movie day on Wed. for the novel Flora & Ulysses and do some compare and contrast between the movie and novel. On Tues., May 27, we are having lunch up in the HS. This will give the students a look at what it is like for next year. Hope to see many of you at track-n-field day. Enjoy your Memorial weekend!!

We have a busy week ahead of us. We are going to finish our novel unit and watch the movie on Wed./Thurs. Our last Library class is this week. Thursday is the Music concert at 7:30 for grade 6. FastBridge testing will happen this week as well. I would like to thank all the students that went to Wolf Ridge for being such a great bunch this year! You really showed Irish expectations no matter where you were and whom you were with. Also, thank you to the parents/chaperones that helped supervise. You contributed to this success!! Be sure to check the Wolf Ridge packing list a couple times. Make sure you have a white tee shirt at school for tie-dye, we wear these for track-n-field day. We are also going to be doing our last book report and a plain tee shirt will be needed for that as well.

Wow, where did April go?? I can't believe how fast time is flying now!!!  With MCA testing in the morning, on Thurs., we will plan to watch our movie after music. Class picture day will be Friday, May 1st. Wolf Ridge is May 6-8. Be sure to look over the packing list for Wolf Ridge, you don't want to be searching for things the night before. Track and Field day will be May 22, alternate is May 29. June 3rd is 6th grade graduation, more to come on that. We will continue to work on our novel study this week. Have a great week.
