Wow, where did April go?? I can't believe how fast time is flying now!!!  With MCA testing in the morning, on Thurs., we will plan to watch our movie after music. Class picture day will be Friday, May 1st. Wolf Ridge is May 6-8. Be sure to look over the packing list for Wolf Ridge, you don't want to be searching for things the night before. Track and Field day will be May 22, alternate is May 29. June 3rd is 6th grade graduation, more to come on that. We will continue to work on our novel study this week. Have a great week.

We have a modified schedule this week with MCA testing Tues./Wed.. morning. If your child misses their testing window, we do have make up days available. I hope you were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather over the weekend!! Cross your fingers the cold and snow days are done! Sixth grade will be going to the high school Wed. afternoon to listen to a guest speaker. Here is a link for you to check it out. This is our last week of review. I know the kids will do their best, and that is all we can ask for. We are testing Apr. 7-8 for MCA Reading. The testing window will be from 9:35-11:00. In like a lion, out like a lamb, and everything in between!!! I guess living in MN we need to be ready for anything!! I hope you enjoyed the weekend and were able to participate in some of the weekend activties. On Monday, our students will help the Kindergarten kids make leprachaun traps. Ask how they did!! This should be a normal week (whatever normal might be). We will continue with review and testing tips. I will no longer be using the student planner for the remainder of the year. Next year the students do not get one, so I use this time getting them used to being responsible without their planner. If something major is coming up, I will send out an email. Please be sure I have your email address and that it is current. If you are getting my newsletter via email, you should be good to go. This week we will begin our Nike persuasive essay, and review inferencing, Battle of the Books is this Friday. Well, I would like to say this is going to be a regular week, but I can't. We have a fun day planned on Friday!!! Our ILTRM is coming to an end, we have a Glow Party planned.. Friday is the last day of second trimester. That being said, we will be doing a lot of review during March. MCA testing for gr 6 Reading is Apr. 7-8. Math is Apr. 29-30!!! Please try to make sure your child is in school as much as possible. Spring break is the week of Mar. 30-Apr. 31 Yearbook order forms due1. This weeks studies will cover Persuasive essay and wrap up our tin book report.  Have a great week!!!

Powder Ridge Send a lunch unless you ordered one from school

Looks like we will have decent temps for Powder Ridge on Thursday!! That being said,  PLEASE make sure your child has the appropriate outdoor clothing. Be sure to work on those reading minutes for I Love to Read month. You can record your minutes on the bright pink reading log that was sent home last week. I will check them every Friday so I can keep track of where we are at for meeting our classroom goal. I hope we can get in a minimum of 540 minutes, more would be even better!!! This week we are learning about text evedence, multiple texts, and speaking/listening. Vocabulary quiz will be Tuesday, Feb. 17!! Also, there is no school Monday, Feb. 16. Enjoy the long weekend!! P.S. pizza pick up Feb. 21 9-10 am by the HS Activity center. You will need to pack your own orders so bring your child along to help :)
