Trash to Cash ALERT!!!!!!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET TO THE $6000 GOAL!

With only one collection date left, we encourage all families to do their best to collect Box Tops from their families, friends & neighbors by May 10th. The students have been eagerly anticipating being able to duct tape Mrs. Harlan to the wall when they reach that goal! They also would love a new tire swing for the playground and that cost, with installation, is about $5500! If you don’t have many Box Tops to contribute,  financial donations will also be accepted! CHECKS CAN BE MADE OUT TO MLE!

Hat Day $1.00

A little over a month ago, Kenlyn Marsicek, one of our 4th graders at MLE, applied and went through an interview process to be considered as a participant with the 2016 Youth Corp as part of the Twin Cities Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk in August.  Kenlyn received a phone call a few weeks ago informing her that she was selected to be a team member with this year's Youth Corp.  She will be part of a 15 member team that will follow the 3 Day route with their leaders to provide service and motivation for the walkers and will be camp "helpers" while in camp for the event.  As a participant Kenlyn has committed to raising $500 in donations.
We will be helping Kenlyn raise this money! See details below:

Summer Academy Information

Summer Academy....updated contact information!!

Families...
Just wanted to give you all a heads up about Summer Academy for this summer.

Summer academy is a four week program (3 weeks in June and 1 week after the 4th of July). The times are Mon-Wed 8AM-noon and Thursdays are a field trip 8AM-3PM (no Fridays). Students invited to Summer Academy are selected for continued learning in reading/writing and mathematics based on the assessments for report cards and Read Well by Third Grade data. An invitation will be sent home the end of April for the Summer Academy opportunity. This allows time for you to decide if the dates work and can commit for your child to attend 95% of the days. There are 36 slots for the K-3 program. Confirmation of acceptance is sent home early May along with a contact form and field trip permission slip.

If you would like your child to attend summer academy please let me know, otherwise, I may be calling you in a week or so. This is a great opportunity for students to have fun and keep their minds growing for a little longer. Summer academy helps to prevent summer academic loss as well! You will need to provide transportation to and from school each day. Car pooling works well :)

Let me know if you might be interested and we can go over the criteria. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Carlson, Mrs. Jost, or Mrs. Tongen.

Thank you!
