I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!  2017 was a great year and I hope 2018 is as well!!! Please stay healthy and safe over the winter break!!

Conferences are coming up at the end of Jan. Please return your conference request as soon as possible so I can get you in the time slot you prefer. I am not able to do the Jan. 30th so I have scheduled the 29th instead. Please make note of that chnage.

We have finished math Topic 8 and will begin Topic 9~Line, Angles, Shapes. Science will continue with renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Social Studies will continue with the study of Minnesota. Reading Skills will go over Main Idea, Details, and Sequencing.

Again, have a great break!!!

     Ok, the weather is starting to get chilly!! Please make sure your child has warm clothes to wear outside. We go out for recess everyday unless there is a below 0 windchill!! 

     I am going to try a new form of communication with my classroom families. It is called Seesaw. I have the class set up and ready to go. Watch for information to come home as to how you will sign up. This is a free phone app and you can access through your computer as well. I can send homework, reminders, celebrations, etc. to you via phone and/or computer!! I hope you will use this new platform as a way to stay current with school happenings. Plus it is safe and private for only my class to see!!!!

     This week in Math we will continue with Topic 8 ~ Division. The students are catching on to this strategy pretty well! Is it perfect yet? Not quite, but I am impressed with how quickly they are catching on!! Social Studies will continue with Landforms and Science will continue with Renewable Resources. Spelling will be a redo for list 10. Another tough week in spelling for us!

     I would still recommend sending in an extra set of clothes, maybe after break? We will do a locker clean out later this week or sometime before winter break. Look for a pile of things to come home :)

Families,

Second trimester is underway!! We had a great first trimester, I hope we can continue with the awesomeness again!! Spelling this week will focus on the Schwa + r Spelled er, ir, and ur in First Syllable. Math will continue with Topic 8 Division. We are showing the students another way to divide called "The Forgiving Method". If you would like to see how it works, you can you tube "forgiving method" and watch the videos. We will work on this for some time!. Science will be going over Natural Resources and Social Studies will go over Rivers.  We are going to Santa's Secret Shop on Dec. 8th. Shopping on Dec. 11th.

With the cool weather, I would recommend sending in warm jackets, hats, and mittens. Please talk to your child about wearing these when going out for recess, a lot of students feel like they will be "ok" without jackets. Not so much!!! . We will do a locker clean out/check before break. Look for a pile of things to come home in the next couple of weeks:)
