Four day week this week...Math Topic 10~ test on Thursday. Social Studies will continue with Immigration and Science will continue with Ecosystem. Spelling will be on Thursday as well...the pattern this week is Syllable Juncture in VCV and VCCV Patterns. Remember to return a fresh set of extra clothes with your child when class resumes (Jan 3).

2016 was a great year...lets make 2017 a great one as well.  Have a wonderful winter break with all your friends and family!!! Stay healthy and safe!!! See you next year ;)

Ok, the weather is starting to get chilly!! Please make sure your child has warm clothes to wear outside. We go out for recess everyday unless there is a below 0 windchill!! 

This week is going to be a regular schedule. Math will start Topic 7~ Division. Social Studies will continue with Native Americans and Science will continue with Rocks (properties) and Minerals. Spelling will focus on the rule Syllable Juncture in VCV and VVCV Patterns. Similar to the last couple weeks.  Friday is hat day to collect $$ for Haiti. Pay $1 (or any amount) and wear a hat to school!!

I would still recommend sending in an extra set of clothes. We will do a locker clean out later this week or sometime before winter break. Look for a pile of things to come home :)

Second trimester is underway!! We had a great first trimester, I hope we can continue with the awesomeness again!! Spelling this week will focus on the Syllable Juncture in VCV and VCCV Patterns...open and closed syllable patterns. Math will finish with Topic 9. Test will be later this week. Social Studies will continue with Long Ago and Native Americans. Science will continue with the Body System. We are going to Santa's Secret Shop on Monday at 1:00. If you missed out on Monday, the shop is open until Wednesday. I can send your child sometime during the day to shop. Just so you know, the later it gets, the less there is to pick from...

With the cool weather, I would recommend sending in an extra set of clothes. Even though jackets and snowpants say waterproof, the kids can still get wet. It is no fun learning in wet clothes. We will do a locker clean out before winter break. Look for a pile of things to come home :)

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!!! This week ends our first tirmester of school. Report cards will be going home next week in the Wed. envelope.

We also have our Santa Secret Shop preview this Friday. I will take the class into the shop and they can make a wish list of items they would like to buy for their family. Our shopping day is next week. If you need assistnace please let me or Mr. Sawatzke know and we can help with the cost.

Spelling this week will focus on Syllable Juncture in VCV and VCCV Patterns. Please be sure to practice these words each night at home as we only meet three times during the week for Word Study. Math will begin Topic 8~division facts and going onto Topic 9~patterns and relationships.

Santa's Secret Shop

We are going shopping real soon!!! Our class will have our Santa's Secret Shop preview day on Dec. 2nd. This is when the students can take a look at the choices and make their  shopping list.

We will go shopping Dec. 5th!! Please be sure to send in the money in the envelope provided, who the gift is for, and the amount to be spent. This really helps the elves a lot!!

This week we will have a spelling redo on (unit 9) Wednesday. It was a tough list and I feel we deserve another chance. Malwitz's Math will be doing review of Topics 1-5.

I wanted let you know how Thankful I am for these students and your support. These kids are all working so hard and so well together! It is a lot of fun to see them learn and grow from one another!! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!!

Club's Choice has started today!!! We will have our first ticket collection this Friday!!! In your packet, you will find a calendar that has the ticket dates provided and how many items need to be sold.  Please sell to only friends and family!!!

A pretty quiet week for us!! Club's Choice starts Wednesday!!! Be sure to sell only to family and friends please!! I will let you know what we are working towards as soon as I find out!!

Daily 5 will begin practicing infer and support with evidence. Math will continue with Topic 5~ multiplying 2,5,10, and 9. Possibly a test Friday. I will be sending home a set of multiplying flash cards. Keep these at home and practice them each night. We do have class next week Mon-Wed. There will be no spelling as it is a short week. Keep enjoying this weather while we can!!! Have a great week!

Friday is Veteran's Day, please wear Red, White & Blue. 

Math will start Topic 5~multiplication (2's and 5's). Daily 5 is working on highlighting important pieces of information for comprehension. Club's Choice will begin next week. This is a fundraiser for our school. Please only ask friends and family to order! This will need to be returned after Thanksgiving break. Keep reading your Battle of the Books books. This challenge will take place in January. I will be testing the class on their adding and subtracting math facts. I hope to have everyone fluent by the end of the first trimester (Dec. 2) so we can begin working on multiplication facts. Again, our goal is multiply 0 to 9. I hope you had a great weekend and to those hunters...I hope you had some luck and everyone stayed safe!!

Please send in an extra set of clothes to keep in your child's locker. The playground and grass can be wet at times!! Nobody wants to sit in wet clothes all afternoon~yuck!!

I hope everyone had a fun dressing up and Trick or Treating. Please remember to bring in any extra candy you may have left over. This week in Math we will finish Topic 4 with a test sometime during the week. Topic 5 will begin multiplication. The goal for 3rd grade is to know multiplication facts from 0-9. Continue to practice adding and subtracting as well. Spelling for the week will follow the rule of plural endings. Science is learning insecst/critters. Social Studies is learning about Land Forms.

A heads up for next week...there is NO SCHOOL Monday, Nov. 7 for teacher workshop.......Tuesday, Nov. 8 is LATE START
