Dear Parents/Guardians,
Hello March!!! Lets hope we can get outside for recess this week!!! Please check with your child to see if they need to replace any school supplies. I do have a few students that are missing scissors and we use those a lot.
Spelling for the week in gr 2 will be singular and plural, grade 3 will be il, el, and al endings. Math for grade 2 will finish up with Topic 11 and grade 3 will continue to review Topic 10 and begin Topic 11(symmetry). What a fun day with the students dressed up as scientists...they looked great!! Social Studies will begin Economics, Science will cover Insects.

My science class did this eggsperiment Wednesday and Thursday. We tested four different liquids and the effects they would have on our teeth. See the results for yourself!?!?!?  GROSS!

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Ok cold temperatures you can be done now!!!! So ready for some warm weather!
This week for spelling in gr 2 will focus on plural words and understand they mean more than one. Grade 3 will focus on unaccented final syllables -le. Math is beginning Topic 11, gr 2 will learn about geometry and shapes while gr 3 will review Topic 10 solids and shapes. We will continue with Black History month activities, science, and dental health this week. WOW, the last week of February already!! The second trimester is almost over~yikes!! Be sure to keep track of your child's reading minutes this week (use the blue calendar that was sent home in the Wed. envelope). 

Spelling gr 2~ spices~spice, acorns~acorn, apples~apple, dishes~dish, classes~class, taxes~tax, watches~watch, ponies~pony, cities~city   (yes, both words again)

Spelling gr 3~ title, table, eagle, apple, puzzle, simple, purple, circle  (print and cursive)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day weekend!! 
The weather is so unpredictable these days, please make sure your child has hat, gloves, boots, and snow pants in their locker for the cold days.
Spelling for the week in grade 2 is contractions (they will need to spell both versions!!) and grade 3 is long "e". 
Math is finishing up Topic 10 with a test at the end of the week for both grades.
Watch for activities to come home for I Love To Read Month!!!
High school students will be joining our classroom this week for some Spanish lessons. Have your child share what they have learned!!

Reading tip of the week...

Know when to stop. Put the book away for awhile if your child loses interest or is having trouble paying attention.

Valentine's Day~Friday, February 13, 2015

Just a reminder that we will be exchanging Valentine's in class tomorrow. If your child is absent, I will pass out treats for them and put theirs in a bag.

Also, a reminder we do provide birthday treats from our food service. You can call the office and they will get you an order form and menu.

 Lets hope for the warm weather to begin-real soon :)

Book Swap

All,

February 16-19 are book donation dates. We will have a book swap during the morning of February 20th. 

All you need to do is bring in a gently used picture book or chapter book and swap it for another gently used book. If you bring in 5 picture books, you get 5 new (used) picture books. The same goes for chapter books. For how many books you bring in you get to take home. Please make sure they are in good condition!

I will collect the books in my classroom. Sixth grade students will come around and gather them up.I hope your child has the opportunity to get some fresh books to take home next week!!!
