Irish Pride
Celebration
Wear Irish shirt
Families,
I hope you and your student are getting back into the swing of things by now. A couple of things I would like to remind you of. We have a binder that holds your childs student planner. Each 6th grade teacher will have the students fill out their planner during each class. This is a great communication tool. You will see what your child is working on and what is coming up. If your child has not been bringing their binder home, please ask them to start. This will train them to be more independent and accountible for school work and expectations. Also, we are 6th graders now. There is a level of higher expectations this year. We understand they are still kids and want them to stay that way, but they also know what is right/wrong and we want school to be fun, at the same time, being role models for the lower grades. This is an amazing group of kids and I/we would love for all of them to have the best year!! Be on the look out for a shoe box. Your child needs one for their book report coming up soon. Last thing, wear orange every Wednesday to show KINDNESS. Have a great week!

Families,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Our first vocabulary quiz went pretty good. If your child is not happy with their score, they are welcome to take a redo on Monday. Thursday comprehension redo's are due Monday as well. This week we continue with character analysis in L.A. Math continues with decimals and Soc. St. is covering MN facts. Teachers will be setting up conference times soon. If you have not returned your sheet, let me know if you prefer Oct. 13 (4-7pm), 14 (4-7pm) or 15 (8am-3pm). Watch for your fall conference slip to go home in the Wed. envelope. With outside temps and inside temps all over the place, you may want to send in extra clothes to stay warm in the classroom. Hope you are having some good meat sales!! Have a great week!

Families,
Ok, I feel like the last couple weeks are just a blur!! Three days to get settled in and a week of homecoming events. I am ready for a regular week of learning, almost!! We have workshop Friday! This week our focus is Character Analysis in Lang. Arts. We are also going to test Math in FastBridge. Results will be shared at conferences. We have our first vocabulary quiz this Thursday. The quiz is fill in the blank using all 10 words with 2 words being repeated. I will have the words listed on the quiz for them to use. I will show them what the quiz looks like this week so they have an idea what to expect. Soc. St. continues with Wright County and Math is covering decimal review. Have a great week!!

Picture Day

Dress to Impress day
Families,
Thank you for coming to Open House!! I am enjoying the responses from the Parent Homework!! This really helps me get a better picture of each child I get to work with. As you can see we have a busy week. Topics we will cover this month: Nouns, Story Elements, and Character Analysis. FastBridge testing (Reading) on Monday will give me a snapshot as to where your child is currently. I will use this information to set up support groups with our intervention instructors. If your child meets this criteria you will receive paperwork to enroll in Irish Support and or Reading Corp. These interventions do not need to be all year. If your child tests out, they no longer need to go. Please be sure to return paperwork from Open House and the Fall parent teacher conference sign up sheet (blue). Teachers will be meeting to set up times in the next few weeks. Be sure to pay the Chromebook fee asap as we will be using them now. Week one was great!!! Have a wonderful week!! Homecoming week, check the calendar for special events :)

During conferences I will go over test results and answer any questions you may have at that time. If you have questions now, please call me or send an email. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have concerning anything here at MLE. I will always have a hard copy of my newsletter in your child's planner every Monday. If you would like to receive my blog/newsletter by email, fill out the BLOG form (from open house) and return it to school. I can sign you up using the email address you provided, PLEASE print clearly. Thank you and have a great week!! I am excited for another school year at MLE!

Families,
We are down to seven days of the school year. Unbelievable!!! I have had some questions concerning graduation next week. First, anyone in the family is invited to attend the ceremony at 1:45. Please make sure to check in at the elementary office before going up to the high school auditorium. Second, you are welcome to take your child home afterwards if you want. This week we are going to finish up our novel study. We will not have any more vocabulary, but Thursday comp. continues as well as the Friday packet. The students will be going to the HS for lunch on Tuesday to get a practice run before school starts in the fall. This is always a fun experience!! I hope you had a great weekend!

Track and Field Day.

Families,
This week we are going to share our tee shirt book report, finish up our descriptive writing piece, and have our last vocab. quiz Thursday. The kids have been working on a novel study the last couple weeks. We are getting close to wrapping those up. We will have movie day for the novel Flora & Ulysses and do some compare and contrast between the movie and novel. I will let you know what day when it gets closer. On Tues., May 27, we are having lunch up in the HS. This will give the students a look at what it is like for next year. Hope to see many of you at track-n-filed day. Enjoy your Memorial weekend!!
