I am loving this weather lately!! I hope we have a smooth transition in fall!! In Language Arts, we will begin our first writing essay, Narrative. We will also participate in Patriot's Pen. Our local chapter will read through each essay and pick the top 2-3 to be read during the Veteran's Day program. The theme this year is "My Voice in America's Democracy?" If you have a minute, sit down with your child and have a discussion with them about this topic. That will help generate some ideas so when we start writing in the classroom they don't struggle as much. Please have your child wear ORANGE on Friday,

I hope you are enjoying this nice weather! Cooler temps are on the way! This week we are going to wrap up our character analysis with some mystery cases and practice speaking in front of the class. We will review types of sentences and begin our first writing project, Narrative essay. A reminder that vocabulary redo is Monday! Also, your child should be bringing their planner home every night. If they are not, please talk to them about this expectation. The red Friday folder should also be cleaned out over the weekend. Thank you and have an excellent week!

A full week of learning!!!! In Language Arts, we will continue with Character traits, text evidence, grammar, and parts of speech. I shared with the class that Thursday comprehension can be a redo over the weekend. and turned in Monday for extra points. This Friday is our first vocabulary quiz, this can also be a redo on Mondays for extra points. Please encourage your child to take advantage of these, it helps the grade stay up. I have received several Parent Homework essays from Open House, if you have not done this yet, please do. This information helps me to know your child better. We are working on going from one class to another more timely. They have 5 minutes between rotations to get ready and take a bathroom break. Less visiting would help with this procedure :) Off to a great start overall.  Have a wonderful week!

Thank you for coming to Open House!! I am enjoying the responses from the Parent Homework!! This really helps me get a better picture of each child I get to work with. As you can see we have a busy week. Topics we will cover this month: Nouns, Story Elements, and Character Analysis. FastBridge testing (Reading & Math) on Tuesday will give me a snapshot as to where your child is currently with academics. I will use this information to set up support groups with our intervention instructors. If your child meets this criteria you will receive paperwork to enroll in Irish Support and or Reading Corp. These interventions do not need to be all year. If your child tests out, they no longer need to go. Please be sure to return paperwork from Open House and the Fall parent teacher conference sign up sheet (orange), teachers will be meeting to set up times in the next few weeks. Week one was great!!! Have a wonderful week!!
