This is some wild weather we are having!!! I can't remember a winter this mild, ever!! Just when we get used to the mild, we get hit with a freezer. I guess that is how we roll here in MN. Anyway, I will no longer be using the student planner for the remainder of the year. Next year the students do not get one, so I use this time getting them used to being responsible without their planner. If something major is coming up, I will send out an email. Please be sure I have your email address and that it is current. If you are getting my newsletter via email, you should be good to go. This week we will finish up our persuasive essay, begin inferencing, commas (in a sentence), and wrap up Ch. 12 in Soc. St. Have a great week!

Well, I would like to say this is going to be a regular week but I can't. We have a fun day planned on Friday!!! Our ILTRM is coming to an end, we have a movie and BINGO planned. Be sure to return the permission slip for the movie otherwise your child will not be allowed to watch. Friday is the last day of second trimester. That being said, we will be doing a lot of review during March. MCA testing for gr 6 Reading is Apr. 11-12. Math is Apr. 24-25!!! Please try to make sure your child is in school as much as possible. Spring break is the week of Mar. 25-291 Yearbook order forms due Mar. 1. This weeks studies will cover...Punctuation in Grammar, Reading will continue from last week, Soc. St. will begin Immigrants, Labor, and Cities. Have a great week!!!

Please remember to pick up your pizza orders Saturday (Feb. 17) morning from 9-10 am. Go to the back loading dock for pick up. Your orders will already be boxed up for you, just grab and go. Thank you for helping with this fundraiser!! Thursday is PTA BINGO night and Basket of Chance. If you would like to help grade 6 with our basket, we are looking for more game night theme items. Thank you so much!!! This week we will learn about finding evidence, inferencing, synthesizing visual and written information. Finish up Ch. 11 Soc. St., and write a persuasive essay. I hope you enjoyed the long weekend.

Late start this week, please have your child wear something you would see at the beach. We will have a Valentine exchange during the day Wednesday. Make sure to have a card/treat for everyone in the class if you decide to participate. Thank you to those families that are reading each night as a family. This is our goal for I Love To Read Month. Trying to get some family time!! PTA is having BINGO night Feb. 22. Grade 6 is putting together a family game night basket/s. Watch for details to come.  No school Feb. 19!!  Have a great week and enjoy the long weekend!!

February is I Love to Read Month. Watch for different activities happening throughout the week/month!, Be sure to read one chapter each night from Nim's Island. Wear sunglasses and neon Friday!!! This half of the school year, we will now get Character Ed. each Tuesday!! Our first class went well. The students did an awesome job selling pizza!!! They met their goal of selling at least 1500!!! Thank you!!!!!Academics this week will cover Key ideas/Details, Sentences, Black History Month. Have a great week!!
