I would like to start with how Thankful I am for these students! What a bright group of kids!! Thank you for sharing them with us!! This week we are going to finish our Amazing Escape (key ideas and details). If your child was invited to catch up club, please return the forms this week. We start Dec. 3rd. The dance on Wed. is at the Maple Lake Legion. Please pick up your child on or before 5:00 pm.  Thank you and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Happy Halloween week!! I can hardly wait for Thursday...LOL!! We will be collecting unopened candy for troops. Please send any candy to school with your child. This week we will finish our personal narrative, work on key ideas/details, and comma practice. We will watch a movie and have snacks on Thursday afternoon. FYI...There is no school next Friday Nov. 8, teacher workshop!! Have a great week and stay healthy!!

Thank you for coming in and meeting with me concerning your child! It takes all of us to make sure your child has a successful school year. Please be sure to reach out if you ever have any concerns!  We finally have a full, normal week!!! I am excited about this!!! In class we will be writing an essay for the Veteran's day program. The local VFW/Legion will collect these and pick the best 3-4 to read at the program in Nov. October is Unity month. We are wearing orange to show support against bullying.  Also, picture retakes Wed.!!   I hope you had a nice, long weekend!!

Conferences this week, Oct. 14-15 from 4-7 and Oct. 16 from 8-3. The book fair will be open during this time. Purchases on Oct. 16 will need to be done by noon as the book fair will be taken down at that time. Continue to wear orange on Fridays please!! Picture retake will be Oct. 23rd. Homecoming week...it will be a week full of energy!! We do have some dress up days, optional! This week we are going to start our shoe box book report. Please help your child gather props to use (they will go home again). I am also hoping to get our Narrative writing piece done this week as well. That may or may not happen. If the day or time for your conferences with me does not work, please let me know asap and I will try to find a new slot for you. The book fair will be open during conferences next week. I am loving this weather lately!! I hope we have a smooth transition in fall!! In Language Arts, we will begin our first writing essay, Narrative. We will also participate in Patriot's Pen. Our local chapter will read through each essay and pick the top 2-3 to be read during the Veteran's Day program. The theme this year is "My Voice in America's Democracy?" If you have a minute, sit down with your child and have a discussion with them about this topic. That will help generate some ideas so when we start writing in the classroom they don't struggle as much. Please have your child wear ORANGE on Friday,

I hope you are enjoying this nice weather! Cooler temps are on the way! This week we are going to wrap up our character analysis with some mystery cases and practice speaking in front of the class. We will review types of sentences and begin our first writing project, Narrative essay. A reminder that vocabulary redo is Monday! Also, your child should be bringing their planner home every night. If they are not, please talk to them about this expectation. The red Friday folder should also be cleaned out over the weekend. Thank you and have an excellent week!

A full week of learning!!!! In Language Arts, we will continue with Character traits, text evidence, grammar, and parts of speech. I shared with the class that Thursday comprehension can be a redo over the weekend. and turned in Monday for extra points. This Friday is our first vocabulary quiz, this can also be a redo on Mondays for extra points. Please encourage your child to take advantage of these, it helps the grade stay up. I have received several Parent Homework essays from Open House, if you have not done this yet, please do. This information helps me to know your child better. We are working on going from one class to another more timely. They have 5 minutes between rotations to get ready and take a bathroom break. Less visiting would help with this procedure :) Off to a great start overall.  Have a wonderful week!
