No School Winter Break

Well, last week was a treat!! Late start and snow days are exciting, but it throws a wrench in the lessons planned!! This week will be a little off as well. Monday, the students will dissect hearts. Our daily schedule will be a little different than usual. Please wear grubby clothes on Monday just in case!! Tuesday is a project day, again some daily changes. Rotations Wednesday and just homeroom Thursday. I hope you all have a wonderful break and will be able to spend time with your family!! I am super excited to see what 2023 will bring us!!

We may just have a white Christmas after all!?! I hope you had a nice weekend and were able to spend time with your family. A few things going on this week.  Report cards will be printed Monday and ready for the Wednesday envelope. They will be in an envelope that you will sign and return to school. Tuesday is Late Start, wear Irish Pride shirts. Holiday Hat Day in the works!!!  Have a wonderful week!   Bring in a colorful or designed sock for Tuesday!!!!

Final grades will be turned in by the end of the week. You will get a paper copy of the report card in an envelope. Please sign the envelope and return it to school. I will use that again for your child's Trimester 2 report card. Let me know if you have any questions. Our class will be working on a project during late start and would like an old sock with some design. It is going to be cut up!!! Please bring it to school by this Friday, thank you!  Have a wonderful week!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a productive long weekend!! I am so Thankful for this group of students!! No two days are ever the same, and I love it!!  Our first trimester ends this Friday!! Report cards will be ready the following Wednesday. If you have not signed up for Parent Portal yet, please do. You will have access to grades anytime you like. The next three and a half weeks of school will be on a regular schedule. It seems like there is always something that interrupts our day. Its all good though!! Looks like the weather will continue to cooperate for a while yet...snow for winter break would be nice, I'm not going to lie!!  Anyway, I hope you have a great week!!

What a nice program the students put on Friday for the Veterans!! A good group of singers! Back to a regular week of academics. It looks like a lot of winter sports are starting this week. Make sure your child is aware of their practice times, I do not get notice of these. It is getting cold out now. All students are required to wear outside gear for morning movers and recess. Please enforce this when they walk out the door. Thank you and have a great week!!

Thank you for coming in and meeting with me concerning your child! It takes all of us to make sure your child has a successful school year. Please be sure to reach out if you ever have any concerns!  We finally have a full, normal week!!! I am excited about this!!! The sixth grade students will be writing a short essay for The Legion's Patriot's Pen. This is a contest for all 6-8 students nation wide. The theme this year is "My Pledge to Our Veteran's".  I will submit papers by the end of this week. Fingers crossed someone from our class/school gets chosen to move on! I hope you all had a great, long weekend!!

Conferences this week, Oct. 17-18 from 4-7 and Oct. 19 from 8-3. The book fair will be open during this time. Purchases on Oct. 19 will need to be done by noon as the book fair will be taken down at that time. The Irish Spirit shop (HS commons area) will be open on Mon., Oct. 17. There are a lot of nice items to purchase!! Continue to wear orange on Fridays please!! Picture retake will be Oct. 26th. I am looking forward to meeting with you to celebrate your child! We have Late Start this Tuesday and National Hot Lunch Day. Grade six will be eating at 12:30 until 12:55. Students will go to recess after they eat. For safety reasons, you will need to say your good bye's in the cafeteria and not on the playground. Hope to see many of you there! Conferences are next week, Oct. 17-18 from 4-7 and Oct. 19 from 8-3. The book fair will be open during this time. We are off to a great start!!! I have a few tweaks to work out yet on my schedule, but overall things are wonderful!!!! We have our NWEA Reading test this Wednesday at 1:00. Please try to have your child here that day. We are also going to have an APEX training for our fundraiser.... Fun Run. Our class will have a 15 minute training each day for the next week. This is a school fundraiser, not for 6th grade. I noticed my blog has changed. The new program has members sign up with a google account. If you are still interested in my blog/newsletter, you will need a google account. I will continue to send paper copies home. Upgrades are not always the best!!! Sorry about that!! Homecoming activities next week, more to come!  Have a great week and be sure your child dresses for the crazy weather we are about to have!!

Thank you for coming to Open House!! I am enjoying the responses I'm getting for the Parent Homework!! This really helps me get a better picture of each child I get to work with. As you can see we have another busy week. NWEA is Friday and next Wed. If your child misses a day, we will be able to make up the test. I will go over results during conferences. Please be sure to return the conference sign up sheet (orange). Teachers will be meeting to set up times in the next few weeks. Week one was great!!! Have a wonderful week!!
