Well, let's hope this week will bring us healthy students again! That being said, I feel I have many students that need to get caught up in all subject areas. I would like to take a day to go over fractions one last time and retest Topic 10. Moving forward with Topic 11~Adding and Subtracting Fractions. Spelling this week will cover the rule of Unaccented Final Syllable -et, -it, and -ate. Science is studying Space. Social Studies is studying Explorers. Reading Skills will go over Author's Purpose and Inferencing. Our class is up for Pencil Pride in the Maple Lake Messenger. Look for our column!

I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend! The temperature has been chilly, please make sure your child has appropriate clothes for outside.
In the Wed. envelope, I sent home your conference date and time. If it does not work for you, please let me know asap so I can try and find a time that works for us both.

Math class did their Topic 10 review Friday. We will test Tuesday and begin Topic 11~Adding and Subtracting Fractions. NWEA is complete (for a select few). I will share scores when we meet. No spelling this week.  Science will cover Space. Social Studies will talk about Explorers.  Have a great week!

Please have your child bring their favorite book to school for Art class Wednesday. We are getting ready to do ceiling tiles again. If you do not have a book at home, I will help your child find one here at school.

Late start this week. Please send in any Box Tops you have!! Also, be sure to wear Irish colors or Irish Pride shirt on Tuesday. The class is doing well with their fractions!! It is fun to see what they remember from last year!! Spelling this week will cover Final syllable -en, -on, -ain, and -in. Math continues with fractions. Science will begin a new topic. Social St. will begin Early Explorers. Reading Skills will cover Making Connections. Be sure to check your child's Wed. envelope this week for your conference slip. If the time or date does not work, please be sure to let me know right away so I can make any changes needed. Have a great week!!!

I hope you all had a great break! I spent time with my family and it was great! I liked the two day week last week, it was a nice way to ease back into the routine. This week we are starting a new math Topic~Fractions!! Spelling will cover the rule of Final syllable -cher, -ture, -sure, and -ure. Reading Skills is going to cover Cause and Effect. Science will continue with Renewable and Non-renewable resources. Social St. will finish up with our two groups of Native Americans. I only have a handful of students taking the NWEA. Your child may or may not take this test. I will let the students know who that will be.  Have a great week!!!
