Vaping Presentation 2-11-19

On Monday, February 11th at 6:45 pm, Maple Lake Schools will be hosting presentation and question and answer session regarding vaping.  Come join us to learn more!

Location: Maple Lake High School Auditorium 

Please join us for this free event to learn together about vaping, device types, misconceptions, prevention, and how to discuss the topic with teens. Community experts, law enforcement, and school officials will present and be available to answer questions after the event.

Families,
It is going to be very cold this week. I am sure we will have a couple of days with inside recess. If you would like, you may send in a game or activity with your child to do during that time. 
If you are not able to make it to your conference, please call the office and they will let me know. We can reschedule if needed.
Spelling for this week is working with Long O. Math will begin Topic 12 ~ Fractions. Science is discussing Natural Disasters and Social St. will continue with Family Ancestors.
Look for your child's Pencil Pride to be published in the Maple Lake Messenger soon! We are having another Book Fair!! It will only be open during conference times.

Families,
I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend! The temperature has been chilly, please make sure your child has appropriate clothes for outside.
In the Wed. envelope, I sent home your conference date and time. If it does not work for you, please let me know asap so I can try and find a time that works for us both.
Malwitz's math took Topic 10 test Friday. We will begin Topic 11~Congruent and Symmetry. NWEA is complete, I will share scores when we meet. Spelling this week will cover the rule of Long i patterns in accented syllables Science will finish with Earth's resources and go on to Earth's weather. Social Studies will talk about MLK and the Westward Expansion. We will have another Book Fair during conferences. It will be open during conference hours!!  Have a great week!

A full week of school!!! I am so excited to get my lessons done!! This week we have a few extra activities going on. Tuesday afternoon we will take the NWEA reading test and then go to the HS for a play. Wednesday is our last day for Character Ed. I am going to keep teaching similar lessons to the class....Mindful Movement~yoga stretching and breathing. Reading skills class will cover Predicting. Math is continuing with lines, shapes, and angles. Spelling will focus on Long a Vowel Patterns in Accented Syllables. Science will continue with rocks and minerals. Lets make it a great week!

Families,
I hope you all survived the ice last week...that was not fun!!! Anyway, Late Start this week, please send in any box tops or trash to cash items you may have. We are looking to test Topic 9 this week. Topic 10 will cover Solids and Shapes. Spelling will be Open and Closed Syllables and Inflectional Endings. Science is learning about Rocks. Social Studies is finishing up Native Americans. 
Be sure to come in and check out our first Wax Museum on Wed., Jan. 9th, presented by Grade 6. The museum will be set up in the Media Center from 9-10:10 am.  Please bring a canned or boxed food item for the local food shelf pantry.
