I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!  2019 was a great year and I hope 2020 is as well!!! Please stay healthy and safe over the winter break!!

Conferences are coming up at the end of Jan. Please return your conference request as soon as possible so I can get you in the time slot you prefer. Club's Choice pick up is Wed. in the HS cafeteria.

We are moving on to Topic 9 Lines, Angles, and Polygons.  Reading Skills will go over Compare and Contrast. Spelling will focus on Schwa + r (er, ear, ere). Social Studies will be presenting Winter Count! Please be prepared.

 Ok, the weather is starting to get chilly!! Please make sure your child has warm clothes to wear outside. We go out for recess everyday unless there is a below 0 temp./windchill!! 

     I am going to try a new form of communication with my classroom families. It is called Seesaw. I have the class set up and ready to go. Earlier I sent home a form that had a QR code on it. IF you misplaced yours, let me know and I can send a new one. This is a free phone app and you can access through your computer as well. I can send homework, reminders, celebrations, etc. to you via phone and/or computer!! I hope you will use this new platform as a way to stay current with school happenings. Plus it is safe and private for only my class to see!!!!

     This week in Math we will continue with Topic 8 ~ Division. The students are catching on to this strategy pretty well! Is it perfect yet? Not quite, but I am impressed with how quickly they are catching on!! Spelling is Schwa + R (er, ir, ur). Finishing renewable and nonrenewable resources, Quiz on Tuesday

     I would still recommend sending in an extra set of clothes to keep in their locker, maybe after break? We will do another locker clean out sometime before winter break. Look for a smaller pile of things to come home :)

Second trimester is underway!! We had a pretty good first trimester, I hope we can continue with the growth again!! Math will begin Topic 8 Division. I will be showing the students another way to divide called "The Forgiving Method". If you would like to see how it works, you can you tube "forgiving method" and watch the videos. We will work on this later in the unit!. 

We are going to Santa's Secret Shop on Dec.10th for shopping!!

With the cold weather and snow, I would recommend sending in warm jackets, hats, and mittens. Please talk to your child about wearing these when going out for recess, a lot of students feel like they will be "ok" without jackets, hats, and mittens. Not so much!!! Grade four is expected to dress for the weather!!! We will do a locker clean out/check again before break. Look for a pile of things to come home in the next couple of weeks:)

This week we will have no Spelling or Reading Comprehension!!!!  We will start Topic 8 in Math~Dividing. Please, work on those multiplication facts each day!

Remember to return the Club's Choice order forms on Monday, Dec. 2nd.

I wanted let you know how Thankful I am for these students and your support. These kids really do work hard and so well together! It is a lot of fun to see them continue to learn and grow from one another!! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!!

Club's Choice will begin this week. This is a fundraiser for our school. Please only ask friends and family to order! This will need to be returned after Thanksgiving break. Keep reading your Battle of the Books books. This challenge will take place early February. I have a couple groups just about through all the books...great team work!! Make sure you go back and do some review to keep the stories fresh in your mind:) Math will continue with Topic 7. We will continue with standard and expanded multiplication. Reading skills will cover Point of View. Social St. is going over Maps and Science is covering the Body System.

The temperatures are dropping, please make sure your child has the appropriate clothing for outside. Looks to be a very cold week. Be prepared!! We have our Veteran's Day program Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the HS auditorium. Grade 4 will sing a couple songs and then we listen to a guest speaker. Club's Choice will begin next week. Please watch for information to go home in the Wed. envelope Nov. 20th. Sell to family and friends only! Be sure to talk with your child about participating in Battle of the Books! There is still time to get all the books read before the Battle begins. My extra snack bin is running low, please make sure you send snack for your child each day/week.

November already!!! I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend!! This week we will not have Spelling or Reading Comprehension. Math continues with Topic 5~Multiplying. We will cover Author's Purpose in Reading Skills. We have learned the main Reading Skills up to now. the remainder of the year will be building upon these skills. Daily 5 is building Accuracy, skills are: Cross checking, flip the sound, chunk letters, skip the word, sight words, and trade a word.

Planning ahead a little...I will send home any clothes in your child's locker this week. In return, you may want to send in some warm extra clothes. Better to be prepared than not! I hope the kids had fun at the Halloween Carnival on Saturday!! Please be safe if you go out Halloween night!!! Any extra candy can be donated to the school. We are collecting for our Troops overseas. Math will test Topic 4 and go into Topic 5~Multiplying 1 digit numbers. Just a heads up...No school Next Monday, teacher workshop day. For the Fall Celebration on Friday, your child may wear a costume if they like but do not have to. Also, if they want to bring in treats they may, we now have 22 students. The celebration will be about an hour is all :)

Thank you for coming in and visiting with me concerning your child.  I am so proud of them all!!!  We are off to a great start and hope it continues throughout the year. We are back to a regular schedule this week. Reading skills will be working on Inferencing. Math will test Topic 3 and begin Topic 4 Dividing. On October 23rd, we are celebrating UNITY Day... Unity Day is a day when we all unite against bullying. Please wear orange!

For the Fall Celebration next week...you are more than welcome to bring treats. Please be sure to have enough for everyone in the class (22).  Costumes are allowed, but please make sure they are school appropriate. I will have more information to come in the Wed. envelope. I hope you had a chance to enjoy some time with family over the long weekend!!
