Battle of the Books is finally here!!!! Friday at 9:55 in the High School auditorium. Trying something new this year...

This week we will get to the Topic 10 test. I wanted to give those that have been absent some time to catch up. Please have your child/ren washing their hands with soap and water a lot!!! My class has been lucky with only a few being sick, but the Flu is out there!!! 

Spelling for the week will focus on Unaccented final syllable -et, -it, and -ate. Science will continue with Space and Soc. St. will continue with MN. Fourth grade had the opportunity to watch the spelling bee last week. Maybe your child will be in the competition one day??

Conferences for Malwitz are Monday and Thursday. If you are not able to make it, please call the office and they will let me know. Otherwise have a great week and see you soon!!

The year is half over!!! Man time flies when you are having FUN!!!!
This week in math we will finish with basic fractions and move onto adding and subtracting fractions. Spelling will work on Unaccented final syllables -en, -on, ain, and -in. 
Science is studying Space and Social Studies is continuing with Minnesota. This week is Para Professional Week. I would like to Thank ALL the para's at MLE!!! Without them, our days would not be as successful as they are!!! You ROCK!!!
Conferences next week. Let me know if your date and time will not work. I do have some wiggle room.

I hope you were able to enjoy the long weekend!!! I am ready for above zero temps!!!!

Science has been working on Solids, Liquids, and Gases. Social Studies has been learning about MN Native Americans. Test on Wednesday!!!  Reading skills is reviewing Compare/Contrast, Inferences, Character/Setting, Organization/Visualize. Character Ed will finish the last week of Jan. We will begin a new class called D.A.R.E. More information to come.

Conference slips will be going home in the Wed. envelope this week. If your time or date will not work, please let me know asap so I can make rearrangements if needed.

This week we will be writing a piece for the Maple Lake Messenger. Look for your child's writing in next weeks paper.

We are beginning Topic 10 in Math...Fractions. Remember, I do have the lessons set up on the math web page. You have access to this anytime you need!!  Spelling will follow the rule of...Schwa + r and r-Influenced e in Accented Syllables er, ear, ere .

Happy New Year!!! I am anxious to see what 2018 brings us!!! I hope everyone had time to relax, spend time with family, and friends!!

A few fourth grade students will be taking the NWEA test this Wed. and next Mon. This is to check their Reading and Math progress. 

We will continue with Topic 9 in Math~Line, Points and Angles. Test this week. Topic 10 will cover Fractions. No spelling this week or Comprehension Reading sheet. Slowly getting back into the flow again. I will be reviewing classroom and school expectations this week as well. I am going to get more stern with the FYI slips from this point on.
