WOW...where did January go??? This month has been a blur!
Conferences are Tuesday and Thursday. Please let me, or the office, know if you are unable to make your scheduled time. I have a few openings and would like to make arrangements if needed. Math will finish with Topic 13 and move on to Topic 14 Customary Measurement. The spelling focus this week is Long u Patterns in Accented Syllables. Social Studies is continuing with Inventors and Science will finish up Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils.

BUBBLE GUM DAY!!!!!



                         




BUBBLE GUM DAY is set for next Friday, February 3, 2017.  All students and staff are asked to pay $1.00 to chew gum here at school. The proceeds will go toward our Haiti clean drinking water fundraiser. Students are expected to bring in their own gum to chew.

Families,
Well, our first NWEA test went very well. We tested in Math on Friday and this Thursday afternoon we will test reading. As I mentioned before, I will go over scores at conferences. I really like what I see so far!!!

Some of the students do not have winter gear for outside. Please make sure your child has what they need to be outside for recess. Hat, mittens/gloves, snowpants, jacket, and boots.

Math will test Topic 12 on Tuesday and begin Topic 13~ Decimals. Spelling will focus on Long o. Social Studies will cover MLK and the Underground railroad. Science will continue with Rocks, Minerals, Soil and Fossils.

Battle of the Books is Jan 26 9:50-11:05 in the Media Center

BBRRRRR!! I hope the meteorologist is right with the temps warming up!!!

 As you can see we are testing in Math for NWEA. This will give me an updated look at how your child is progressing in math. Reading will be on Jan. 26th. I will share the results at conferences. Speaking of, your conference reminder will be in your child's Wed. envelope. If the date or time does not work, please let me know asap and I will try to reschedule. We have reached January temperatures. Please be sure your child has warm clothes for outside recess. We go outside as long as the temp is not below zero!!! This week in Math class we will begin Topic 12~Understnading Fractions, Spelling is focusing on Long a Vowel Patterns in Accented Syllables. Science is starting rocks and minerals. Social Studies will continue with Civil War and Immigration.

Welcome back everyone!!! I hope you all had a healthy, safe, and wonderful break!!! We are on our regular schedule this week. Math will begin Topic 11~ Congruence and Symmetry. Please continue to review adding and subtracting and keep working on multiplication facts. Spelling will focus on Open and CLosed Syllables and Inflectional Endings (-ing, -ed). Social Studies will cover Immigration and Civil War for the month of Jan. 

Be sure to send in extra clothes and snack.  PE shoes as well if your child brought them home :)
