Glasses

If you have any old glasses that you no longer use or wear, please send them to school with your child. The Lion's Club in Maple Lake will take them and recycle for families that cannot afford glasses. Make sure you note what the glasses are for so I dont send the wrong pair to the Lion's Club.

Thank you for helping!!!

Families,
Since we had to close school on Thursday, the NWEA schedule has changed a bit. Our class will be testing Monday in math and Tuesday in reading. Both days we will go from 12:30-2:00. That also means our regular class schedule has switched a little. The calendar above shows the changes. This Tuesday night we are going to have game night. This is an opportunity for you and your family to come in and try out some new games and buy them to take home!!! Game night is sponsered by our PIE group. Thank you PIE!! We have started four of our five pieces to Daily 5. OUr focus has been on Check for Understanding. In your child's book bag you will find a Parent Pipeline. This will be a great tool for you to use at home. Suggestions are given so you can help the same as they are taught in the classroom. Please be sure they practice math facts each night as well. Addition and subtraction for now. I hope soon they will be experts at those and we can move on to multiplication. Great presentation from Rachel's Challenge on Wednesday. Feel free to ask your child about her story and why its important for us all.
Have a great week and enjoy the variety of weather :)

Any questions or concerns please let me know!!

NWEA Reading test

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Week three is here already!! The time is flying by~at least for me anyway. This week the third graders will begin their math switches. Please know that at anytime during the year they can go from any class to another. We just finished math assessments using the math curriculum we use in class to begin our groups with. Once NWEA is over, we will meet again and go over the math scores and make any changes as needed. If you feel your child is not in the best group, please let me know and we can set up a meeting to go over the test scores. As I mentioned before, I will go over math and reading scores at fall conferences. Monday night is our volunteer training. If you plan on going on any field trips or help in the classroom, please make sure you have this training and are up to date. Wednesday is Wellness Wednesday. We wear comfy clothes to workout in after morning announcements. This will be on the last Wednesday of each month. Also on Wednesday, we are having a special guest speaker in the HS auditorium to share Rachel's Challenge information to our parents. I hope you can make this presentation!!!

Picture Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are off to a great start!!! The students are showing their Irish Expectations every day!! We will continue to work on these all throughout the year. You will notice on the weekly schedule I have both P.E. and Music listed. I split my class so that half will go with Ms. Carlson and the other half will go with Mrs. Kopff. The boys and girls are doing a great job remembering which class they go with!!! We are also going to start switching classes every Tuesday and Thursday for Social Studies, Science, and Word Study/Spelling. In the next couple weeks, after we have finished our math assessments, we will begin math switching as well. At conferences I will go over test results and answer any questions you may have at that time. If you have questions now, please call me or send a note. I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have concerning anything here at MLE. I will always have a hard copy of my newsletter in your child's mailbox every Monday. The spelling list is printed on the back side as well. If you would like to receive my blog/newsletter by email, fill out the BLOG form and return it to school. I can sign you up using the email address you provided, or you can sign up on your own. Make sure you check your email for the feedburner confirmation email otherwise you are not completely sign up.

Welcome to a new school year and to my classroom!!!
