Families,
We are 100% done with MCA testing...phew!! Thank you for making sure your child was here during that time. When you get the results later, look for a score of 350 or higher. That's the magic number for "meets" grade level work. Please remember this is one factor that shows how your child is doing in school. It is not the "whole" picture. Some students test better than others, some may get anxiety, get bored and just want to be done, etc. We all tried our best to prepare for this test. Just please do a little reading and math over the summer. There really is a big drop in academics over the break!
This week we are back to our regular schedule!!  In math, we will finish up Topic 20 and test.  We will go back to Topics 18 & 19 multiplying and dividing. Spelling is almost complete...this week we are focusing on Suffixes -y, -ly, -lly. This is our last "official" spelling list. The last few Fridays I will be pulling random spelling words, from previous weeks, and reviewing/testing those words. We will also start our Wolf reports. If you have any books about Wolves, please have your child bring it in and they can use it as a reference. Science is beginning Matter...Solid, Liquid, and Gas. Good luck to those that are growing cabbage!!! They can get very BIG!!! I hope to see some pictures next year with your plant!  Soc. St. is covering Earth Day & recycling. Have a great week everyone!!

Good
Friday
No
School

Families,
Well.....that is all I am going to say. Think Spring is on the brain!!! As you can see we do not have school this Friday. This Sunday is the Lion's breakfast and candy scramble from 8:00-noon. Lots of fun!!  We will have our Math MCA next week on Apr. 23-24. This week is a lot of reviewing! I am so proud of my class for taking their time on the reading MCA!! Those scores will not come out until this fall. You will get a mailing, with teacher letters, that will have your child's MCA information. This assessment checks to see if your student is working/learning at grade level skills. Again, so proud of my class and their PATIENCE during the Reading test. I hope they do just as well for Math. I am sure they will :)
This week in spelling the focus is on Prefixes re- and un-. Science will start Properties of Matter and planting our school gardens. Soc.St. is finishing up Text Features/Character Traits.  Reading Skills will revisit Characters and Setting.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Wear Blue
Families,
Tuesday and Wednesday will be our Reading test days. The school will provide your child with breakfast each of those days. Please make sure your child is getting a good nights rest! I am still missing a couple of Reading and Math packs that were sent home over Spring Break. Please return them as soon as possible so we can go over the answers.
Spelling for the week will focus on "K" spelled ck, ic, and x. Math will continue with review and start graphs. Science will learn about the digestive system and Social Studies will finish their Text Features with Character Traits (self awareness).
We will continue to wear BLUE (on Fridays) the whole month of April for Autism Awareness.
Bring on the warm temps and have a great week!
